MEDIUM: Web
CLIENT: Siberian Treasures
Visit Siberian Treasures Web site.
Siberian Treasures is an Art Salon and Souvenir Store founded by Russian artist Natalia Almazova. Natalia showcases her own artworks and works
of other recognized Russian artists such as Anastasia Korniyenko, Vladimir Petrov and many others.
Visual Identity Design included naming of the Art Salon, creating a Logo, designing and coding of a Web Site, writing a descriptive content.
The clients of the Art Salon mostly are art lovers and tourists, so the content had to be translated into three languages: English,
German, and Russian.
Every detail is working in a harmony, that is exactly the look and feel I needed. I think the Web Site was a good idea to tell the world
about my business, my clientele is constantly growing. Thank you very much for your work.“
How the Logo was born…
Since the clients of the Art Salon mostly are art lovers from all over the world, the name of the
gallery had to be translated into three languages: English, German, and Russian.
I created several logo designs for Natalia to choose from. Each of the designs is easy to read in any size, and is as good in black and white as it is in color.
Each symbol has its descriptive rich meaning, variations of colors and fonts are available.
The Chosen Design: Two Zhar Ptitsas (Phoenixes), name of the art salon as the part of the graphical symbol
Design elements and color variations are inspired by famous Khokhloma painting.
Zhar Ptitsa is often used in Russian culture as a symbol of fire and sun, that is reflected in red-orange-yellow color scheme of the logo.
The symbol of Zhar Ptitsa is emotionally rich and cozy, it represents the light of the Russian heart and and warmth of hospitality.
In Western cultures Phoenics is the analogue of Zhar Ptitsa, which makes the graphical symbol internationally comprehensible.
The design is colorful and complex, but easily readable when re-sized. The logo looks as good in color as monochromatic.
Design Nr. 1: Zhar Ptitsa (Phoenix), inspired by Vologodsky lace
This sophysticated design still looks good in small size. Name of the art salon is the part of the graphical symbol. Versions of ornamental patterns, colors and fonts are available.
Design is inspired by special kind of traditional Russian lace – Vologodsky lace, a beautiful part of Russian culture.
Personification of Phoenics with human traits makes this logo very friendly and attractive. Use of Russian ornaments creates the feeling of a living fairy tale.
Design Nr. 2: inspired by St. Basil’s Cathedral on Red Square, Moscow
This logo is very simple, clean and professional; name of the art salon is the part of the graphical symbol.
One of the famous symbols of Russia are golden-crowned cathedrals, especially famous is St. Basil’s Cathedral on Red Square in Moscow.
Design Nr. 3: horses, inspired by russian embroidery
Horse is a symbol, depicted on the emblem of city Tomsk; it represents the city’s rich history.
Design Nr. 4: bears, name of the art salon as the part of the graphical symbol
The living symbol of Russia and especially Siberia is a brown bear.
